Reset Global User Value – back to the common value¶
The command "Reset Global User Value" removes the personal value the current user has for a global value, so the common value applies to them again. This page is for administrators who use global values with values per user, for example as a personal filter or setting.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Remove a user's own value of a global value |
| Typical use | A button "Reset filter" or "Back to default" |
| Where in the editor | Toolbar menu "Data" → "Reset Global User Value" |
| Needs a user interface | No |
| Needs a current record | No |
| Related | Update Global Value, Global values |
2. Settings¶
The setting is on the tab "Settings". Like every command, the command also has "Display Name", "Description" and "Execution Condition" on the tab "General" (see Actions).
| Setting | Meaning | Default / Required |
|---|---|---|
| "Global Value" | The global value. Only global values with "User Defined" on are offered. | Required |
3. Behaviour¶
- Without "Global Value", the command is skipped.
- If the global value does not exist or does not have "User Defined" on, nothing happens.
- The user the action runs for is determined. In a run without a user, nothing happens.
- The user's own value is removed. With "Persist User Defined Value" on the global value, the stored value is deleted as well, so the common value also applies after the next sign-in.
Only the user the action runs for is affected – an action cannot reset the values of other users. Messages about skipped steps are written to the log; the action continues in every case.
4. Example¶
Reset a personal filter. The global value "My region" holds a region per user, which the
dashboard "My tasks" filters by. A button "Show all regions" runs an action with Reset Global User
Value for "My region", followed by Dispatch UI RerenderPageAction with
the payload {}.
