Image Block – a picture or an icon¶
The image block shows a picture or an icon, optionally clickable. The picture comes from an image expression: an uploaded image, an icon of an icon font, an external picture or a Microsoft Entra profile picture.
This page is part of the widget reference.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Shows an image or an icon |
| Typical use | A logo, an illustration, a large status icon, a clickable picture that opens a page |
| Related | Images, Icon fonts, Button |
2. Settings¶
In addition, the widget has the settings every widget has.
| Setting | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| "Image" | An image expression: the picture or icon | none – required |
| "Alt Text" | Alternative text of the picture, for screen readers and when the picture cannot be loaded | none |
| "Image Fit" | How the picture is fitted into the size of the widget: Contain, Cover, Fill, ScaleDown, None | Default |
| "Icon Size" | Only for icons: the size as a CSS length, for example 32px (category Size) |
see below |
| "Click Action" | An action run when the picture is clicked | none |
3. Behaviour¶
- Pictures follow the "Size" of the widget, fitted as "Image Fit" says.
- Icons are characters of a font, so they follow a font size, not a box. "Icon Size" sets it. Without it, the icon takes the height of the widget, otherwise its width; without either, its default size.
- With a "Click Action" the picture is clickable. The action runs without a record.
- With "Auto Refresh" the expression is evaluated again – useful for a picture that changes with a status.
4. Example¶
A status lamp. An image expression that returns a green, yellow or red icon depending on a global
value, "Icon Size" 48px, "Auto Refresh" on with 60 seconds.
