Accumulation Chart Block – shares of a whole¶
The accumulation chart counts the records of a query per value of a field and draws the result as a doughnut chart: each slice is the number of records with that value.
This page is part of the widget reference.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Shows how records are distributed over the values of a field |
| Typical use | Tickets per status, requests per category, orders per sales channel |
| Related | Chart for values over an axis, Card for a single number |
2. Settings¶
In addition, the widget has the settings every widget has.
| Setting | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| "Title" | The heading above the chart, computed | none |
| "Query" | The query whose records are counted | none – required |
| "Group By" | The field whose distinct values become the slices | none – required |
3. Behaviour¶
- The records are counted in the database, with the read limits of the viewing user.
- Each slice is labelled with its value outside the doughnut; the tooltip shows the value and the count. There is no legend.
- A click on a slice opens the records with that value in a dialog, shown with the default grid of the entity. With a date and time field as "Group By", a slice stands for one second, and the dialog shows the records of that second.
- Without "Query" or "Group By", or when no record is found, the widget draws nothing.
- "Font Size", "Font Weight" and "Text Color" apply to the labels. The chart takes the height of the widget when one is set in "Size".
- With "Auto Refresh" the slices are counted again at the interval.
4. Example¶
Open tickets by status. "Title" "Open tickets by status", "Query" "Open tickets", "Group By" "Status".
5. Limitations¶
- The chart always counts records. It cannot sum or average a field; use a Chart with the x axis type Value for that.
- The colours of the slices are chosen by the chart; they follow light and dark mode but not the theme.
