Embedded Page Block – an external web page in the dashboard¶
The embedded page shows another web page inside the dashboard, for example a report of another system, a status page or a map.
This page is part of the widget reference.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Embeds an external page |
| Typical use | A report of a BI tool, a status page, a weather or traffic map |
| Related | HTML for content you generate yourself |
2. Settings¶
In addition, the widget has the settings every widget has.
| Setting | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| "URL" | The absolute address of the page (https://…), computed by an expression |
none – required |
| "Show Scrollbars" | The embedded page scrolls inside the widget | off |
3. Behaviour¶
- The page fills the widget. Give the widget a "Size" – a height in particular – so the page has room.
- Whether a page may be embedded is decided by the page itself, not by nexxcite. Many websites forbid being shown inside another page; the widget then stays empty or shows an error message of the browser. Check the documentation of the provider.
- The embedded page runs in the browser of the user, with the user's own sign-ins at that provider. nexxcite does not pass any credentials.
- With "Auto Refresh" the page is reloaded at the interval.
4. Example¶
A status page. "URL" https://status.example.com, "Size" height 400px, "Auto Refresh"
on with 300 seconds.
5. Limitations¶
- Pages that forbid embedding cannot be shown.
- An address with
http://may be blocked by the browser when nexxcite itself runs withhttps://.
