Tab Item Block – one tab of a tab block

A tab item is one tab – or one accordion section – of a Tab Block. It has a title, an optional icon and optional small blocks in its header, and it holds the blocks shown while it is open.

This page is part of the form block reference.

1. At a glance

Purpose One tab or accordion section with its content
Typical use "Details", "History", "Attachments"
Related Tab Block

A tab item can only be placed inside a tab block. The editor's tree and paste menu only offer that position.

2. Settings

Setting Meaning Default
"Title" The title on the tab header none
"Icon" Icon in front of the title none
"Disabled" Condition under which the tab cannot be selected not disabled
"Selected" Condition under which the tab is open when the form opens (and again whenever the result of the condition changes). See Tab Block. closed
"Header Prepend Block" (Appearance) A stored block shown in the header in front of the title none
"Header Append Block" (Appearance) A stored block shown in the header behind the title none

In addition, the block has the settings every block has, except "Flush". They style the content of the tab, below its header.

3. Behaviour

  • The blocks in the header are evaluated and drawn whether the tab is open or not – that is the point: a header that says how much is behind it saves a click. Keep them small: one badge, one avatar, one icon.
  • The header blocks are stored blocks. They are picked, not dragged into the header; create them as forms of their own first.
  • A tab item whose "Visible" condition is false is left out completely, header included.

4. Example

Number of open tasks in the header. A small stored block "Open Task Count" contains a badge whose content counts the open tasks of the ticket. The tab item "Tasks" uses it as "Header Append Block". The header shows "Tasks" followed by a badge with 3 – visible without opening the tab.
