Query Result Grid Block – the records of a query as a table

The Query Result Grid Block shows the records of a query in a grid. Columns, initial sorting, grouping, toolbar and quick filters come from the grid definition; the records come from the query. It is the best choice when users have to compare and work through many records.

This page is part of the widget reference.

2. Settings

In addition, the widget has the settings every widget has.

Setting Meaning Default
"Query" The query that supplies the records none – required
"Grid" The grid that decides columns, sorting, grouping and toolbar. Use a grid of the same entity as the query. none – required
"Density" The row height: Inherit, Compact, Default, Comfortable. Inherit takes the "Grid density" of the user's theme. Inherit

3. Behaviour

  • The grid works exactly as described in Grids: sorting, grouping, column filters, quick filters, paging, selection, export and the layout remembered per user.
  • Above the grid, the widget shows the name of the query. The arrow next to it opens the query editor; "Search" runs the query again with changed conditions. The change applies to this view only.
  • The buttons of the grid's toolbar are shown as a band above the rows. An action of the grid's entity runs once for all selected rows.
  • A click on a row opens the record; a middle click opens it in a new tab.
  • Padding, border, background and text settings of the widget apply to the grid itself.
  • With "Auto Refresh" the rows are loaded again at the interval. Sort order, filters and selection are kept.

4. Example

My open tasks. "Query" "My open tasks" (tasks assigned to the current user), "Grid" "Task overview", "Density" Compact, "Size" height 480px, "Auto Refresh" on with 120 seconds.

5. Limitations

  • Without "Grid" or "Query" the widget is left out of the dashboard.
  • The heading always shows the name of the query; hide it with a custom style if needed.
