Global value expression – reading a global value¶
The global value expression returns the current value of a global value – a value that is maintained once and used everywhere, such as a company name, a base address or a threshold.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Returns the value of a global value |
| Typical use | Company data, addresses of external systems, limits that should not be written into many definitions |
| Returns | The value of the global value |
| Related | Global values, Text (global values can also be inserted into a text directly) |
2. Settings¶
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| "Global Value" | The global value whose value is returned |
3. Behaviour¶
- For an ordinary global value, the expression returns the value stored in it.
- For a global value that users can set individually, it returns the value of the current user. If the user has not set a value, the default value of the global value is returned.
- The expression needs no current record.
- If the global value no longer exists, the expression returns an empty value.
4. Example¶
The global value "Support address" contains support@example.com. A text expression for an e-mail
footer inserts it: Questions? Write to + global value "Support address".
