Threshold based background action rule – not executed in the current version¶
The threshold based background action rule is a rule type that is meant to check a query on a schedule and run an action when its result crosses a threshold. In the current version, nexxcite does not execute it. This page explains what you see if such a rule exists and what to use instead. It is intended for administrators who configure business rules.
1. At a glance¶
| Purpose | Planned: watch a query on a schedule and run an action when a threshold is crossed |
| Status | Not executed. Nothing schedules or evaluates it. The business rule manager does not offer it, and there is no editor for it. |
| Use instead | A scheduled action whose action queries the records and acts on the result; or an event based background action rule with a trigger on the field and the threshold in its "Execution Condition" |
2. Settings¶
A rule of this type carries a user, an action, a monitored query and a schedule. None of these settings has an effect.
3. Behaviour¶
- A rule of this type is stored, but it never runs.
- The Business Logic view of the entity shows it in the column "Scheduled" with the kind "Threshold action", its schedule and its query, drawn like an active rule. The view does not mark it as not running. The kind appears under "Rule kinds" only if the entity has such a rule.
4. Examples of the alternatives¶
Every hour: notify about overdue tickets. A scheduled action that runs every hour, queries the tickets whose due date has passed and that are still open, and sends one notification per ticket.
Immediately: an order above 10,000. An event based background action rule on the entity Order with the trigger "Any Field Change" on Total and the "Execution Condition" Total > 10000. Its action notifies the sales manager.
